2010 Blue Dog Farm Opening Dates and Times and Picked Berries

berry cluster

U-pick organic blueberries:

Tuesday and Saturday mornings from 9 to noon, from July 20th until maybe the 2nd weekend in August?

Raspberries:

No raspberries in 2010 ....we are so sorry. U-pick blueberries:
We know the hours seem limited, but experience has taught us that what's ripe on any particular day is not sufficient for pickers who arrive later. We are not picking for any markets this year, and we're limiting our picked orders so we can have as much fruit as possible for u-pickers. We'll be happy to open more days if we have the fruit. Keep checking back.
Stay tuned here on the website for the unfolding story of the season. You can also call for our phone message, (425) 844-2842, but don't become reliant on it. (This year, all it tells you is to check the website.) This is the last year we'll use the phone message, switching in 2011 to all electronic updates.

Picked berries:

picked berries
As last year, we will be picking a limited amount of berries as we attempt to simplify our lives a little. We also have minimum picked order sizes:

Organic blueberries: Minimum order: 40#. Over 40#, we'll pick whatever whole number of pounds you want. Price same as 2009: $4.25/lb.

Organic raspberries: No raspberries in 2010.

Send an e-mail after July 1 if you are interested in picked blueberries. Please include your phone number. Please don't leave your order on the phone message -- very unreliable. I will confirm with you via return email and/or phone call. Also I will update here as soon as I can once we stop taking orders.

NOTES: Our long-time customers know all these things, and have accommodated us for years (THANKS!), but we want to make it clearer for everyone.

We make no promises on particular timelines for picked berries, but we will do our best to meet your needs. We are a small family operation, and we pick to order for the best, freshest berries for you. However, this old-fashioned approach, our work schedules, the berries, the weather, and the availability of our pickers make it hard for us to hit a particular date, but we will do our best.

We pick orders in the order received with some latitude on our end concerning size of order. (Larger orders can take us longer to fill, but we always fill 'em.) For very large orders, it is often easier for us to prepare them in two batches (though this necessitates your coming out twice). Let us know your preference on this.

Please plan on coming out as soon as possible for your picked berries. We have limited cold storage, and they are at their best immediately after picking. We want you to be happy with your berries! We are a small family operation, and we have a hard time predicting ripeness, picking schedule, etc.

Thank you, our loyal (and new) customers, for your kind words and your happy picking. We will keep working hard to bring you as many organic berries and as much organic produce as we can.
